I would like to design a web-based documents targeted to liver-specific transcription factor family (HNF 1, 3, 4, C/EBP beta, PAR). It will include a set of XML tags, a DTD file and a CSS file for display. For each liver-specific transcription factor, it should cover the elements such as transcription factor name, associated binding factors, classification, functional feature, size (AA, kDa), DNA binding motif(consensus, mutant), related Medline documents (Med ID, title, author, journal, date and page). Hopefully, this will set an example to facilitate bench scientists to collect specific TF/motif information for their tissue-specific promoter studies.

I will be designing an XML document from our office's Travel Business Expense form. Our accountant would benefit greatly if he is able to parse the documents for information. As the document is very complex with multiple data points, for this project I will only be translating part of the document into XML. I will then create an XSLT stylesheet which will transform the document into XHTML for display on our internal website.

For my project I will be working on an HTML page, which is basically a Sample Emergency Room Report. I will design an XML schema for the given page and develop my own tags for the document and present it with the help of an XSLT stylesheet. This will hopefully, make it easier for the physician to get the important information about the patients allergies, medication, past medical history etc.

Since I don't have any real life project utilizing XML, I decided to go with the everlasting bookstore theme. In my project I will try to organize book attributes into an XML Schema, and via an XSLT stylesheet transform the example document into XHTML for display.

For my project I will design a XML schema to represent a medical dictionary. I will then write a XML document that is an instance of this schema and display it in a web browser using XSLT. I have based this on my understanding of how Taber’s Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary is structure (www.tabers.com).
